Madhuri Dixit Nene’s sari-gown showcased Parsi gara embroidery stitched over eight weeks

• Madhuri Dixit Nene, known for her love of classic saris, wore a custom Ashdeen creation that reimagined the sari as a corseted gown for the screening of Netflix’s The Ba**ds of Bollywood.
• Designer Ashdeen Lilaowala explained that the silhouette combined a corseted bodice with an A-line skirt featuring a high slit while retaining the essence of a sari.
• The gown took more than eight weeks to complete, with multiple artisan teams collaborating to ensure consistency in colour, detailing and craftsmanship.
• The defining feature of the ensemble was Ashdeen’s signature Parsi gara embroidery. Floral and bird motifs in pink, blue and orange were embroidered on a black base, transforming the garment into wearable art.
